As a hiring manager for more than 11 years, I've seen a lot of those. The honest answer is probably "money!", but that's not what employers like to see. Employers want to hire people who are passionate about their industry or the company. They are really asking, "Why do you want to work in this industry or for this company?" Good answers would be: I want to be an Auto mechanic because I enjoy working on cars. I want to be in the hotel business because I enjoy being around people. Or I want to work for the Irish Plumbers because I've heard you are the best in the business.
This is ALWAYS a loaded question on application forms ! The manager or recruitment officer wants to know your reasons for applying for the job. NEVER put "...because I need the money..." That is NOT a valid reason (and would certainly get your application refused !
You need to 'sell yourself' - put forward positive things about you.. "...because the tasks I performed in my last job will transfer to this post, reducing the need for further training..."
If the job is some distance from where you live "...because I'm looking for a change of scenery, and your post will give me the incentive to re-locate..."
Just that - why do you want to work there. Everyone needs to work for money - but why are you applying at that place over the place next door? Is it a customer service job and you like working with people? Is the company in the field you want and you respect the charity work they participate in? There is a reason you want to work there - if not, don't bother.
In an interview, you may be asked the reason for applying to the position. State that you have had an interest in this type of work for a long time.

yes it does matter what address you put on a job application, the address you put on a job application is supposed to be where you reside, no where else.
go to the job and ask for an application
that would be unadvised
I wouldn't put the reason on the job application. You can save this for the interview and only if asked for the reason why.
when filling a job application, should you put in your desired salary, or put open, or leave blank?
Do you mean "what" should you put on app? You put Laid off. You put "seasonal layoff" or "slow business." If you mean "why" - because they need to know what experience you have.
The job application should have an area where they request for your references. If not then they don't want them. If you are filling out your resume then only put long term, job relevant work on the resume.
You should answer the question honestly and briefly. There is no reason to go into the details on a job application of your leaving a position.
Old navy tends to look at people who are fashionable and very outgoing. Material you can put in the application should be honest and something that you actually do.
I suppose you can, but you will not get the job.
The location or city of where you'd rather work.
