God. Sorry, couldn't resist that one... seriously though, they were brought over by Christopher Columbus and came from the Ukraine / Central Asia region. Actually most horses are native to north America and migrated over to Asia and Europe. They were reintroduced by Christopher Columbus. Sorry.
