Renoir was the leading impressionist artist who painted in the same time-period and style as Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Paul Cezanne, and Edgar Manet. He helped guide the movement painting with a similar focus to other Impressionist artists striving to capturing the light of a scene and their images are universally "blotchy" using small, thin brush strokes taking in large scenes or day to day objects and presenting them at odd angles. (Degas was famous for 'awkwardly cropping')
