Well you have to understand that it can be the other way around as well. The scent of the female wolf in heat can attract the male wolf just like the howl of both the male and female can attract each other. The scent, sound, body posture can all play a role in how one wolf is attracted to another. Rank does not matter if that wolf already has a mate or if they have both left the pack to start another. Omega's can even attract a mate so rank does not matter.
