Harold godwinson marched 250 miles
September 20th 1066 - Battle of Fulford
Harold Godwinson had to quickly march a tired and weakened army south to face William Duke of Normandy. The victory at the Battle of Stamford Bridge had depleted his army and resulted in defeat at the Battle of Hastings.
The battle of stamford bride which was Harold II Vs Harold hadrada some say the reason he didnt win the battle of hastings was becasue his army had to march 1000 miles up and down the country and his army were all tired and didnt have the strenght to fight although they did win the battle of stamford bridge After defeating Harold Hadrada at the hard fought Battle of Stamford Bridge, Harold Goodwinson's forces had to make a forced march across the width of England to meet William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings, just days later. His troops arrived at the battle exhausted.
He marched his army north to Stamford bridge to battle with Harald Hradrada who came across form Norway to try to invade England to overthrow monarchy.
I think it was about 250 miles
The Saxon Army under King Harold Godwinson had marched 180 miles in 4 days. Stamford Bridge is near York so 180 miles South of York is where they had started their forced march from.... they then turned around and went all the way to the South coast to fight William the Conqueror at Hastings...........
Harold Haadrada did not become King of England. (CORRECTION!) He was killed by the legitimate King of England, Harold Godwinson (Harold I), at Stamford Bridge. King Harold then had to march South to face William of Normandy, and was killed at Hastings. William then became King, and his successors have been on the throne ever since.
Harold left the vicinity of York on or about September 26 or 27, pressed to meet William's invading force some distance to the south, and he arrived in the vicinity of Hastings, to battle William, on or about October 13 or 14; so it seems the best answer is that it took Harold 17 days to march to the battle.
The Bataan Death March was not a battle. It was a forced death march, e.g. being forced to march at least 80 miles under extreme conditions. Over 10,000 soldiers died during The Bataan Death March.
Harold was born circa 1022 in Bosham, West Sussex, England. Birth dates for his brothers and sisters place it at least as early as 1023, since his younger sister, Gunhilda, was born in about 1024: * http://www.progressus.se/mormor_morfar/tree/ps07/ps07_340.html * http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?_8000C002=Harold+II&_8000C003=Godwinson&_80004002=&_80004003=+Gunhilda&_80008002=Edith+Swanneshals&_80008003=%28Swan-neck%29&rg_81004010=0&rg_81004030=1094&prox=1&db=owt&ti=5538&rank=1&offerid=0%3A7737%3A0 * http://www.footnote.com/page/2432_harold_godwinson/ * http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Godwinson From records remaining, we know Harold was the second child and Gunhilda was the third. It stands to reason, then, that Harold was born no later than 1023. Most estimates place his birth in 1022.
there where no breaks at the battle of hastings as it was fight to the death except for when the English thought they had won and the Norman army killed the English king and then the army was destoyed
