The Battle of Hastings in October, 1066
Harold godwinson marched 250 miles
Three days after the Battle of Stamford Bridge, Harold Godwinson received news that William the Conqueror had landed in England at Pevensey Bay. This development forced Harold to quickly march his troops south to confront the Norman invasion, as he needed to defend his kingdom against this new threat. The urgency of the situation highlighted the precariousness of his position following the earlier battle.
September 20th 1066 - Battle of Fulford
Harold Godwinson had to quickly march a tired and weakened army south to face William Duke of Normandy. The victory at the Battle of Stamford Bridge had depleted his army and resulted in defeat at the Battle of Hastings.
The battle of stamford bride which was Harold II Vs Harold hadrada some say the reason he didnt win the battle of hastings was becasue his army had to march 1000 miles up and down the country and his army were all tired and didnt have the strenght to fight although they did win the battle of stamford bridge After defeating Harold Hadrada at the hard fought Battle of Stamford Bridge, Harold Goodwinson's forces had to make a forced march across the width of England to meet William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings, just days later. I think it was about 250 miles
Harold Hardrada's defeat at the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066 was primarily due to the element of surprise and the rapid mobilization of King Harold Godwinson's forces. After a long march from the south, Harold's army caught Hardrada’s troops off guard, who were unprepared for battle after a lengthy campaign. Additionally, Hardrada’s forces were outnumbered and engaged in a fierce fight against an energized enemy, leading to his decisive defeat.
The Saxon Army under King Harold Godwinson had marched 180 miles in 4 days. Stamford Bridge is near York so 180 miles South of York is where they had started their forced march from.... they then turned around and went all the way to the South coast to fight William the Conqueror at Hastings...........
Harald Hardrada was forced to march north following the English defeat at the Battle of Stamford Bridge, which took place on September 25, 1066. This battle marked a significant victory for King Harold II of England against Hardrada's forces. After this defeat, Hardrada's army was weakened, leading to their eventual defeat at the Battle of Hastings later that same year.
Harold Haadrada did not become King of England. (CORRECTION!) He was killed by the legitimate King of England, Harold Godwinson (Harold I), at Stamford Bridge. King Harold then had to march South to face William of Normandy, and was killed at Hastings. William then became King, and his successors have been on the throne ever since.
The Bataan Death March was not a battle. It was a forced death march, e.g. being forced to march at least 80 miles under extreme conditions. Over 10,000 soldiers died during The Bataan Death March.
