Fort Hindman was fought in Arkansas - a Union victory that formed no part of the Vicksburg campaign strategy, more-or-less a diversion or distraction.
But many small engagements took place on the West bank of the Mississippi during this campaign, some in Arkansas.

The Camp Walker I am familiar with is near the town of Maysville in Northwest Arkansas. Some Confederate and State Troops were trained there in the summer of 1861, then marched to Camp Stephens near Bentonville, Arkansas, and on to Wilson's Creek, near Springfield, Missouri, where they fought in the first major battle west of the Mississippi on August 10th.

Most major military leaders have fought in many battles near creeks.
This is true of the battles in the East. The two capitols were close to each other. In the West, however, several battles, Ft. Henry, Ft. Donelson, Shiloh, Perryville, Vicksburg, Lookout Mountain, Chickamauga, Atlanta, and many, many more were fought nowhere near either capital.
