it all depends on what your level is. what your attacking. and what level the thing your attacking is. if your attacking like a cow or something small melee is the best but if your attacking something stronger then you, i suggest range or magic. because you can hide and attack at the same time.

i would recommend ranged armors, such as leather armor, hard leather studded armor and green dragon hide for f2p players and snake skin, frog skin armor and red/ black dragon hide for p2p players. But these require ranged and defense level to wear them. I would recommend to level up your ranged to 40 and wear dragon hide chaps and vambraces. they are quite cheap compared to their defense stats. or get to level 40 defense and finish dragon slayer and wear dragon hide body. combat robes and other robes are useful against magic, but they are expensive and has lower stats compared to the dragon hide armor. Also, you have to recharge robes or it is useless.

You should start hitting 10's at around level 70 Ranged if you are using Iron arrows.
