The Casa de la Primera Imprenta de America (House of the First Print Shop in the Americas) was founded by Franciscan friar Geronimo de Aguilar in 1524 on Mexico City. The second of such printing presses was also installed in Mexico City at the Casa de Campanas (House of the Bells) by request of Juan de Zumarraga, Mexico City archbishop on 1539.
Both presses were used to print official and Church-related documents. One of these documents was a catechism entitled "The Brief and Most Concise Christian Doctrine in the Mexican Language" written by the Zumarraga archbishop himself. It is one of the earliest books ever printed in the Americas.
