A fantastic book if you like Science Fiction is Red Shirts by John Scalzi. It is the story about a spaceman assigned to the flagship of the fleet. He realizes that every away mission involves a fatal encounter with aliens but somehow the top five officers are always safe.

A author needs patience. A author i know said she had to subbmit her book 47 times until they said yes. Also a author needs emotion. I read a book once and it was stupid for it had no emotion. Always have someone read your book before you turn it in to a publisher. I would give you more advise but i don't know what type of book your writing . i hope this was enough.
