Because carbon dioxide is released as a product of the reaction.
The reaction between vinegar and baking soda is that of an acid plus a carbonate.ACID + BASE --> SALT + WATER + CARBON DIOXIDEThe carbon dioxide causes the balloon to inflate. The reaction: CH3COOH + NaHCO3 --> CH3COONa + H2O + CO2.
It is a chemical reaction. The formation of a gas is evidence that a chemical reaction has taken place. Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate, NaHCO3) reacts with vinegar (dilute acetic acid, CH3COOH) to form carbon dioxide gas plus water plus sodium ions and acetate ions (the ions are dissolved in water). NaHCO3(s) + CH3COOH(l) → CO2(g) + H2O(l) + Na+(aq) + CH3COO-(aq)https://www.thoughtco.com/equation-for-the-reaction-of-baking-soda-and-vinegar-604043

The chemical formula for baking soda (Sodium Bicarbonate) is NaHCO3 The chemical formula for vinegar (acetic acid) is C2H4O2, or CH3COOH, which is an acetate ion plus a Hydrogen atom. When vinegar is added to baking soda, the baking soda dissociates into CO2, plus OH-, plus Na+. The Na+ replaces an H+ on on the vinegar, to form Sodium acetate. The H+ from the vinegar joins the free OH- from the baking soda, to form water. The Carbon Dioxide (CO2) the bubbles through the water and sodium acetate solution.
If your talking as in, baking soda in a vinegar balloon, then it would obviously explode. Make sure to try this experiment in your parent's brand new car. Answer 2: Lol - yeah and send him the bill :D NaHCO3 (aq) + CH3COOH (aq) ----> CO2 (g) + H2O (l) + CH3COONa (aq) That is: Baking Soda plus weak vinegar = carbon dioide, water and Sodium Acetate. So, it fills up with gas - and sprays water and weak acid everywhere.
Limited research shows 21 plus some short stories.
nothing except lemon for vinegar would work. even then only if you use a little.
