He appeared in a series of books called The Lion King Six New Adventures, showing Kopa as Simba and Nala's son and the adventures he had. Kiara doesn't appear in those books, as she wasn't thought up yet, and she was used instead of Kopa when the movie kicked off. No body knows what happened to Kopa, some think Zira killed him, others think he ran away or had an accident etc. If you're asking if Kovu killed Kopa, (they can get mixed up) then, no, we can only guess at Kopa's, (and many others) disappearance.

This is evident from the commentary track by the first film's makers on the DVD release wherein they confirm the cub in the end is not Kopa. How can Disney say Kopa never existed when he was in a book made by Disney?
Because those books are not written by Disney. They are nothing more than fanfiction books that Disney allowed to become profit. The fact that Disney has given their stamp of approval on many other storybooks too which contents contradict each others, including the books' wherein Kopa is, only confirms that the book universe is made out of separate fanfiction views that are not meant to blend even with each others and thus Kopa is not meant to exist anywhere but in the books.
