Nobody knows how Kovu dies, that's beyond TLK 2, and we don't know about Kopa's life after cubhood, either. He appeared in a series of books called The Lion King Six New Adventures, showing Kopa as Simba and Nala's son and the adventures he had. Kiara doesn't appear in those books, as she wasn't thought up yet, and she was used instead of Kopa when the movie kicked off. No body knows what happened to Kopa, some think Zira killed him, others think he ran away or had an accident etc.
