In much the manner that all continental US states have borders with surrounding states and in some cases, have borders with Canada and Mexicico; Canada is no different.

Canadian provinces have provicial borders with neighboring provinces and international borders with the United states. Island provinces such as Newfoundland and Prince Edward island do not have back-to back borders; however, their borders are located in the bodies of water that surround them.

Note: Canada's three teritories (Northwest Territories; Yukon and Nunavut) as well as the provinces of Newfoundland and Prince Edward island do not border with the United States.

The province of Quebec has seven borders as follows:

1. To its West, it borders with the province of Ontario.

2. To its East, it borders with Labrador (part of Newfoundland).

3. To its South, it borders the province of New Brunswick and with the United States and in particular, the States of New York; Vermont; New Hampshire and Maine.

NOTE: PEI Provincial Government Island Information Service reports as follows:

"On the South side of the Island, the mid-point of the Northumberland Strait is shared with N.S and N.B and each of the three Provinces has jurisdiction on their side of the mid-point."

Seven of Canada's ten provinces share a common border with the US. They are: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Québec and New Brunswick. Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador do not. In addition, Yukon, one of Canada's three territories, also shares a common border with the US. Northwest Territories and Nunavut do not. Nunavut, however, appears to share a common border with Denmark, because the border runs through Hans Island.
