The US Department of State
The role of the legislative in government is generally to legislate, to set the budget for the state and to set domestic policies. In many cases especially in united states or china the executive branch is responsible for foreign policy and affairs.
The executive branch, legislative branch, and judicial branch of the national government likely participated in the process described in the newspaper headlines depending on the specific issue being covered. Each branch plays a different role in the governance and decision-making process of the government.
The State Department, headed by the Secretary of State, has the primary responsibility for shaping and implementing US foreign policy. The Department of Defense also plays a significant role, particularly in areas related to defense alliances, military cooperation, and potential military interventions. The National Security Council, although not an executive department, also plays a vital role in coordinating and advising the President on foreign policy matters.
The role of the individual in the United States government are the ability to vote people into specific offices. Another role that an individual plays in the government is jury duty, which is a part of the judicial branch of government.
All presidents have the same powers-- the ones given to them by the Constitution, as part of the Executive Branch of our government. He is the Commander in Chief of the military as well as the leader of the country (and the leader of his political party). He directs our foreign and domestic policy (he cannot do this alone: we have three branches of government, each of which plays a role in establishing those policies). The president serves a four year term (and can be re-elected once). He can choose his own cabinet, nominate ambassadors, propose bills he would like to see congress pass, and nominate judges to the Supreme Court.
The Legislative Branch, but specifically the US Senate, must vote to approve or reject the President's nominations. The House of Representatives plays no role in the appointment process.
