Regular breads like Sara- Lee and others are not gluten free. Try shopping at Sprouts for gluten free breads. They have to say GLUTEN FREE on it (look at the allergy statement) or else it's not gluten free. :)

Most bread you encounter will contain gluten. Potato bread contains gluten, which may surprise you.

You should request gluten-free breads from your grocery store. The best gluten-free bread I have tried is Glutino Harvest Corn Bread. It is packaged in a bright yellow bag and kept in the freezer section of my grocery store. It also happens to be milk/casein free. Bread made with rice flour is also a good choice.

All gluten-free breads are dry and dense compared to other breads, so you will want to eat it toasted, grilled, or warmed/softened in the microwave.

Well i really have no favorite Gluten free bread. I buy the Kroger brand if i'm out and need it in a hurry. but in my opinion home made bread is by far the best tasting especially when its hot out of the oven. I bake my own! Its very easy and tastes great. The link to my recipe is a related link.

Gluten Free Dessert Recipes Different From Wheat Recipes?

When first diagnosed with celiac disease or gluten intolerance, learning to cook gluten free dessert recipes and breads can feel overwhelming. Although it is not difficult once you learn how, gluten free cooking and baking is not as simple as substituting an alternative flour for wheat flour. Celiac disease is an autoimmune reaction where the body tags and identifies gluten, one of the protein molecules in wheat, rye and barley, to be an enemy. Gluten is considered foreign to the body, so the immune system fights against it. In the process, the villi of the small intestines become flattened and often destroyed. The villi are the small hairs of the intestinal lining that absorb protein, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. When the villi are damaged, malnutrition results. This syndrome has no cure other than following a gluten free diet. For those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance, wheat, barley and rye are off limits. While many choose to begin a gluten free diet using only whole foods, once they begin feeling better, they often want to know how to make gluten free breads and desserts. There are many gluten free dessert recipes that are appropriate for those with gluten problems, but cooking without wheat is not easy. Without gluten, breads do not have the sticky, hold-together quality that yeast breads need to raise. Cakes and cookies also behave differently. By using a combination of alternative flours, starches and vegetable gums that imitate the properties of gluten, it is possible to make great tasting gluten free baked goods. Some individuals begin their experiences in the kitchen by using premade gluten free flour mixes. Others prefer to buy a variety of safe flours and starches and make the mixes themselves. Either way, it is a good idea to begin with one of the many gluten free dessert recipes available online before trying to adapt a recipe that was not originally designed to be gluten free. Gluten free recipes have a different ratio of fats and sugars in addition to the unique gluten free ingredients involved. You cannot just substitute a gluten free flour for wheat flour.
