The Serama is named the smallest breed of chicken, so I would have to say the Serama.
I raise them and they have some very small eggs.
A bantam is a size of chicken (many standard breeds also have a "bantam" of that same breed...) Finding a breed of bantam that lays well will take some research however, and always remember that each chicken is an individual and can very well deviate from the norm of egg laying.
Egg quantities differ depending on what bantam species lays them but the eggs are much smaller than a standard size chicken. A bantam Silkie will lay well below average when compared to a Rhode Island Red Bantam is reference to size not an individual breed.
The bee humming bird lays the smallest egg at half a gram, and the ostrich lays the biggest at 3.3lbs. The animal that lays the smallest eggs are insects but when referring to vertebrates the animal that lays the smallest egg is the hummingbird.
My bantam hen lays 1 egg everyother day.

Well I know that a 'Bee Hummingbird' lays eggs smaller than a coffee bean (she lays them two at a time) But I don't know if it is the smallest, yet it seems extremly small to me!
The ruby throated hummingbird
the world smallest chicken egg is from a breed called seramas
