Well, I can't speak for all breeds, but we have a Golden and a Boxer, and they are totally best friends. They never separate from each other. Everything they do, they do together. Although that may not always be the best thing.

We have a golden retriever and an aussie - the retriever is male and the aussie is female, and they get along great. The aussie is a bit bossie with the retriever at times but he doesn't really care - such a mellow fellow!
