Hot water and a good shampoo takes out hair color easiest and fastest, whether demi-permanent or permanent.

Also, a DEEEP conditioner w/ use of haet will fade dark color, as well as a HOT OIL TREATMENT.

If none of that works for you, I recommend applying a "SOAP CAP". This is for extrme cases of "too dark" hair. you'll need bleach powder (buy from a beauty supply store, or you can get it from from a highlighting kit), 10 or 20 volume developer and mix both of those w/ a good shampoo. Shampoo your hair w/ the mixture and let it sit until you see the desired color change. (This process is fast, so use caution!)

To get specific amounts & instructions on how to do a SOAP CAP, do a search on Google, there are some good directions out there on the web.

NOTE..after the SOAP CAP, in case the results are a little "spotty", you may have to do a re-dye. I suggest re-dyeing w/ a SEMI OR DEMI PERMANENT hair color that was about 2 shades lighter than the shade you 1st tried.

**A SOAP CAP does damage your hair quite a bit, plus if you have to re-dye after the SOAP CAP, it will be even MORE damaged. I suggest a good reconstructor from a beauty supply store. Plus buy a good conditioning mask for dry/damaged hair and sleep in it and/or use it with heat in the days and weeks following.

What would happen if you dyed your hair to blonde from ginger?

you would then have a more orange or copper cast to your hair. Using a permanent haircolor would do some chemical damage, though likely not much, but being permanent, you will notice a grow out line. Use a demi permanent color and you will not only condition your hair but the color will last a month and gradually fade, and will fade on tone, which cannot happen with a permanent color, since permanent color alters your hair. As a demi permanent fades, you will not see a grow out line. They are no more expensive, but you must get them at a beauty supply store, such as sallys, and mix a 10 volume or even 5 volume for less permanent results. no higher or you will expose your hair to alteration.

If you dye your blond hair a semi-permanent dark brown will it wash out completely or will it leave a darkish shade over your natural hair color?

It will gradually fade back to your natural hair color. Semi-permanent colors only deposit..they do not penetrate the hair they just coat the strand of hair.

How do you fade bright blonde hair?

When your hair is lightened, it is removing pigment from your hair. Therefore, there is no way to fade lightened hair, but you can use a toner or a demi-permanent color to change the brightness. Visit a Sally's or any other beauty supply store and the employees can help you determine which option is best for you.

Does hair return to natural color after using demi-permanent dye?

Yes. Demi-permanent compounds only coat the hair, not penetrating the hair shaft. Stripping the dye away using shampoo is a natural process, although it is gradual. Your hair should return to it's original shade by about 10-25 washings. One note is that gray hair can retain the color, being more noticeable when the base color (ash, red, platinum) takes longer to disolve off the hair. If this is the case, see your hairdresser. She has products which will remove the residue. **In my experience this isn't true - I have dark blonde hair and have used nothing other than dark reddish brown semi- or demi-permanent color in the last few years. I decided to go lighter, and have used 4 different semi-permanent color removers now. It has lightened slightly, but is nowhere near my natural color - except for about 1" at the roots. If your hair is at all damaged, even from using a blow-drier, semi-permanent color will get into the hair and will not completely wash out. Demi-permanent color is much more gentle on your hair than permanent color, but if its important to you to go back to your natural color, I wouldn't risk using it. it grows to normal color so i doubt where you dye will go back just let it grow out and cut the end is all i can say to do.
