What can a mother do about her daughter's boyfriend putting a gun to her and threatening her if she doesn't live with you and is 18 years old and he is 20 or 21?

Unfortunately there is only two legal ways you can handle this one. #1 Your daughter has to stand on her own two feet and go to the police station and form a restraining order against this guy. The law has loops holes and it sounds like no one can tell this guy what to do, so he'll probably break the restraining order. You could report this guy to the police yourself and tell them he has a gun and they will go to their home and check things out, but the possibility of making things worse for your daughter is high if you take this action. #2 See if YOU can catch him in the act of threatening your daughter. If so, you can call the police (leave the house to do this) and charge him. The police will charge him with possibly "an unregistered firearm" (depending if this type of gun is illegal in your State) and "using a weapon with intent on doing bodily harm." I really do feel badly for you. When you can, sit down with your daughter and form a plan. Make sure she has a "safe place" to stay if you can talk her into leaving this guy. This will mean she will have to stay with relatives in another town, because he will find her if she doesn't. There is also a possibility he could come after you. I would suggest you go to the police and talk to someone there ... possibly a detective. Explain the situation and what rights you have to put this guy away before he hurts someone. Pointing a gun intentionally at anyone is a criminal offence and classified as "intent to kill". If you don't get any satisfaction from the police then please see a criminal lawyer to see what your rights are. It appears your daughter is obviously afraid of this guy. You probably only know 1/2 of what goes on. It is difficult for her to leave, so if she really wants too, then you both have to plan this well.
