A Supernova can destroy anything in its path. Usually you can tell if a star is going to have a Supernova. Think of it like this, think of a city, country, or a state(USA) getting wiped out within a matter of seconds. Its crazy to think about it. You can die any second of the day.

Improvements.
A supernova doesn't really have a "path", but will destroy everything within its region.
Supernovas can be predicted by observation.
For the rest, the idea "you can die any second of the day" is just plain silly. There's no star near us that looks like going supernova anytime soon. This is an information website, not a chat room, so the email tease is probably inappropriate. Your choice.
The Vela Supernova is the remnant of a supernova explosion that occurred in the Vela constellation about 11,000 to 12,300 years ago. It is located about 800 light-years away from Earth and is one of the closest known supernova remnants to us.

There are currently no stars in the Orion constellation showing signs of going supernova. If a star in the Orion constellation were to go supernova, it would likely be visible to us on Earth given Orion's proximity.
It's highly unlikely. Antares is not likely to go supernova for at least a million years. However, because of it's distance from us - 600 light years, it may have already gone supernova and we just haven't seen it yet.
when betelguese goes supernova nothing will happen directly to us, but the star will become as bright as the moon in the night sky, and a black hole may form at the site
That depends entirely on how far the supernova is from Earth. If it is our Sun going supernova, a little over 8 minutes. And a few Milli-seconds later all life on Earth would be gone. Any other star, it would just appear slightly brighter for a while and then disappear. It could take centuries for the light to reach us.
"after a supernova" is the adverb phrase in the sentence.
About 50 to 100 light-years as the closest safe distance between Earth and a supernova. But, if a supernova to go off within about 30 light-years of us, that would lead to major effects on the Earth, possibly mass extinctions.
