A transistor can do this... However, a single transistor can not "remember".

It takes several transistors to form one single memory "bit", depending on technology.

We think of computer-memory as bits that in turn form byte.

The basic building block for computers are transistors, but it is the "bit's" they form that can turn electricity on and off, hence forming the binary value of 1 or 0.

How much electric do a computer use?

A desktop computer uses about 200 watts per hour. It takes about 5 hours to use one kilowatt which costs between 8 and 10 cents.

How can workers who build and repair computers avoid computer chips by being damaged by static electricity?

They make sure that the computer is disconnected from any power. The computer is standing on a conducting mat that generally has a fairly high impedance. This equalises the voltages between the computer and its surroundings. Slight conductivity is sufficient to equalise the voltage caused by static charge but limit any high current surges. Next, the operative is connected to the mat (and hence to the computer) with a high impedance conducting strap, which is normally wrapped around a wrist. High impedance reduces the risk of a serious electric shock should he touch the computer's insides when it has been left accidentally connected to the power.

What is the difference between computer peripherals and computer accessories?

Basically a computer peripheral is any optional piece of computer hardware. Computer hardware includes all physical pieces of the computer's circuitry. Input and output devices are usually defined as peripherals because they are not necessary for the computer's operation (yes, you can operate a computer using just the box). Peripherals include: keyboards, mice, game controllers, speakers, scanners, web cams, etc. Computer hardware includes all of the above plus: the motherboard, power supply, cpu, disk storage, display adapter, network card, etc.

Is there more gravitational attraction between you and building or you and your friend?

There is more gravitational attraction between you and the building because the building has more mass.

What is the relationship between electronic signals inside a computer and binary digits?

Electronic signals are represented in binary as 1's and 0's. A 1 is representative of an electric charge being active and a 0 is representataive of an electric charge being absent.

How does the term circuitry relate to brain development?

Language often uses metaphors to describe unrelated things. We do not REALLY have wiring or circuitry in our brains! But as a metaphor it describes the intricate pathways nerves and neurons form between and among each other to transmit nerve signals.

What is the relation between microprocessor and operating system?

a microprocessor is hardware, it provides the physical mechanism (electronic circuitry) needed to run any software on a computeran operating system is software, it provides the logical mechanism (algorithms) to coordinate the running of all the software on a computerapplications (or apps) are software, they are coordinated by the operating system and run by the microprocessor to perform tasks useful to a human user of the computer

Similarity between opamp and comparator?

A comparator is simply an opamp with a certain configuation of external circuitry ( a few components) that make it function as a comparator.
