Tooth shedding is a physiological process that works in tandem with the eruption of the succeeding tooth; as the tooth below grows upwards and out, the pressure causes the body to resorb the root of the previous tooth. In return, the presence of the previous tooth acts as a guide and space-maintainer for the succeeding tooth. In this way when one tooth falls out, there is already a tooth to take its place in the oral cavity.

It is not recommended to tamper with this natural process, because premature shedding can lead to overeruption or maleruption of the succeeding tooth.

If it is absolutely necessary to remove a primary tooth artificially (for example, due to ankylosis or a failure to shed on time, or decay) the services of a dental professional should be sought; appropriate professional help at this stage can prevent dental problems or more expensive corrective treatment in the future.

How can you tell if a tooth is an adult one?

How old are you? If you are young (under 12 or 13 years old) and if you haven't hit the tooth lately, then it's probably a baby tooth. It is rare for a child to have a loose adult tooth. If you are an adult and have a loose tooth, it could be gum disease.

What is the other way to write when you have loose tooth?

I do not see why a loose tooth should affect how you write unless you happen to have lost the function of your arms and use your mouth to hold a pen/pencil. If so, I suggest you seek help.

Can milk help your permanent teeth that are loose?

No. Tooth decay is irreversible. While the calcium in milk can help make teeth stronger, it cannot help reverse damage that has been done to them. If your teeth have been so badly neglected that they are falling out, the only thing to do is have them removed before they cause a serious infection.

What if your adult tooth is coming in behind your baby tooth and the baby tooth is not getting loose to pull?

This happened`with our six year old. Sometimes the adult teeth do not "attack" the root of the "baby" tooth and weaken it enough to make it fall out first. This is not an "emergency" but you should probably have the tooth looked at by a pediatric dentist. It is quite normal for the permanent tooth to appear slightly behind the baby tooth and slightly before the baby tooth is lost. If it is "wiggly", it probably won't make much difference whether the tooth is removed or allowed to come out on its own. The tongue does a good job of pushing the permanent tooth forward into position if there is adequate space. A lot depends on the amount of spacing among the baby teeth. Definitely ask your child's dentist about the "arch length" at your next visit. The biggest concern is that the new tooth will not have room to be properly placed. In situations like this, the baby tooth will have to be pulled. Sometimes the coexisting tooth will work out the baby tooth on its own. Some dentists will say to give it one to two months to see if the "baby" tooth works out on its own. One other thing though, ONLY in the lower front is it normal for the teeth to erupt behind. Anywhere else, if the permanent tooth hasn't come out, then the baby tooth may need some help. Basically, it is a judgment call for the dentist, and except in a few extreme cases, there is no "right" answer. To view a chart about teeth eruption, visit the Related Link. What do you do when you lose a tooth and have braces?

Loose Baby TeethA loose "baby tooth" will normally come out on its own through normal chewing. Occasionally they are swallowed, but that is harmless. If the tooth has not fallen out by the time the permanent tooth erupts, it may need to be removed by the dentist.Loose Permanent TeethThere are two usual possibilities: your tooth is fractured, or you are suffering from gum disease that weakens the tissue firmly holding the tooth. If your tooth is fractured, you would probably feel pain from cold. But when your tooth is loose, the most common reason is your gums. If you are suffering from gum disease, you must get it treated right away before your tooth gets too loose and you would have to remove it. You should consult a dentist or a periodontist (gum speacialist) who will start with a tooth scaling and maybe a curetage depending of how advanced your condition is.In rare cases, diseases or medications can weaken the bone that anchors your tooth. The living root is the important lifeline that keeps a tooth healthy, and damage to the bone or the root can make a tooth less rigid.Your dental professional is the best person to consult on tooth problems. You should avoid any delay that can allow a bad situation to become worse.

How do you stop loose motion for 8 month old baby?

To stop loose motion or loose stools for an 8 month old baby, it is best to feed the baby breast milk only. Breast milk has natural chemicals to control the bowels. If this is not possible, one should feed the baby a pediatric electrolyte and a lactose-free formula. Bananas may also help with loose motion.

How do you pull out a tooth?

Without pain: if you want to pull out a loose tooth with no pain, this is what you do. Wiggle your tooth back and forth and up and down. If it doesn't come out then, take a Kleenex and put the Kleenex over your tooth. Pinch your tooth really hard and pull it out. It wont hurt. With pain: if you want to pull a loose tooth out with pain (if you don't really mind), this is what you do. Wiggle your tooth for about 10 minutes. Take some pliers and pinch the tooth. Gently pull out the tooth. It usually doesn't hurt. This is the classic tooth-pulling strategy.I hope you guys get your money from the Tooth Fairy! *wink* Bah-bye, now!

I don't know if your situation is that same as mine but my 4 year old has an abscessed tooth and the dentist said anitbiotics wouldn't help that the tooth needed to be extracted and a spacer put in its place.

What element is added to thoothpaste and city water systems to help tooth decay?

I do not believe that anything is added to help tooth decay. Fluorides are added to fight (not help!) tooth decay.
