What can cause White smoke coming out of exhaust on a freelander the head gasket and thermostat and inlet manifold gasket have all been replaced with the new type from landrover?

white smoke is burning of water, did they have the head pressure tested(could be cracked), also was it checked for warping, have a leak donw test done

Taking into consideration that I have spent a lot of time and effort on my TD4 it could be the crankcase vent filter that needs to be replaced or a leak in the intercooler pipes, mine had the same problem and now eventually the Turbo died a sudden death after 370000 km !

Hi, I recently replaced the coolant temperature sensor and thermostat on my '01 GTP. Are you referring to the temp. sensor? If so it's directly below the thermostat on the top of the motor obviously towards the driver's side. take the plastic cover off of the top of the motor and follow the upper raditor house down to the neck on the top of the intake manifold. directly below that is the sensor screwed into the manifold right below the neck (where the thermostat is).

You may have the problem of your intake manifold gaskets. They are a problems on the lumina. I had to have mine replaced due to the same thing. Also check if your coolant is mixing with your oil if it is. Than it is definitally your intake manifold gasket.

In general, engine thermostats can be found by following the LOWER radiator hose to where it attaches to the engine. The hose is typically attached to a fitting behind which is a gasket and the thermostat. The gasket needs to be replaced when the thermostat is replaced.
