Either the brake system malfunctioned or some part broke on that wheel's brake system, or the wheel bearing seized. Take it apart and see what caused this.

Not enough coolant in the cooling system - Improper ratio of coolant to water in the system - Improper or failing radiator pressure cap - Cooling system water pump may be failing - Radiator fins may be dirty or blocked. - radiator cooling fans are not operating correctly - cooling system is dirty and may need flushing.
A thermostat that was stuck then suddenly became unstuck might do that. If the coolant level and the rest of the cooling system seem OK, try replacing the thermostat.
Coolant doesn't go through the cooling system, and the vehicle will overheat.
