Where is the large intestine found in the human body?

In the abdominal cavity. The first part is called the cecum and it is in the Lower Right Quadrant, just inside your hip bone, the next part is the ascending colon and it goes up at an angle up to about your 10th rib, then the transverse colon goes across the front of your abdomen under the ribs and above the naval (belly button) to your left side about the 10th rib, and then it goes down to just inside your other hip bone and becomes the descending colon. The next part is called the sigmoid colon and it makes an S-shape that goes deeper into your abdomen and then becomes the rectum. The last part is an opening called the anus.

What is The section of the large intestine associated with the spleen?

transverse colon

What is this s shaped part of the colon called?

The sigmoid colon (pelvic colon) is the part of the large intestine that is closest to the rectum and anus. It forms a loop that averages about 40 cm in length, and normally lies within the pelvis, but on account of its freedom of movement it is liable to be displaced into the abdominal cavity.

What is the splenic flexture?

The bend in the colon between the transverse and descending parts.  The other flexure (between ascending and transverse) is the hepatic flexure.

What are the major organs in the ventral cavity?

The ventral cavity is subdivided into 2 other cavities, the thoracic cavity and abdominopelvic cavity which are separated by the diaphragm. Some of the organs within each are:THORACIC2 pleural cavities > lungsmediastinum > pericardial cavity, major blood and lymph vesselspericardial cavity > heartABDOMINOPELVICabdominal cavity > stomach, liver, spleen, gallbladder, pancreas, small intestinepelvic cavity > urinary bladder, colon, rectum, reproductive organs

What cavity is the transverse colon found in?

The transverse colon is the part of the large intestine which connects the ascending and descending colon. It is in the abdominal cavity.

Where can you find large intestine?

In the abdominal cavity. It connects to the small intestine in the lower right of the abdominal area, goes up (ascending colon), across, down descending colon), across (transverse colon), and down (sigmoid colon) to the rectum and anus.

What are the subdivision of the colon?

There are four main subdivisions to the colon. The ascending colon, the transverse colon, the descending colon, and the sigmoid colon. The ascending colon travels up the right side of the abdomen until it reaches the level of the right kidney. It then turns at a right angle (known as the right colic flexure) and travels across the abdominal cavity as the transverse colon. It then bends at a right angle again (known as the left colic flexure) and continues down the left side of the abdomen as the descending colon. The colon then enters the pelvis and becomes the 's' shaped sigmoid colon.

What are the 3 divisions of the colon?

The sequence of the colon is: cecum with the attached appendix, the ascending colon, transverse colon, the descending colon, and the sigmoid colon (S shaped) and ends at the rectum.

Which tissues suspends the intestine with the abdominal cavity?

The folds of peritoneum called as mesentery. That is a very interesting story! The stomach has mesentery. The duodenum do not have it. The small intestine has it. The ascending colon do not have it. The transverse colon has got the same. The descending colon do not have the mesentery. The pelvic colon has got the same. That makes the GI tract mobile as well as fixed, so that it does not fall down.

How long is the transverse part of the colon?

How long is the transverse part of the colon?

What are the symptoms of transverse colon?

The transverse colon is a body part, not a disease.

What are the 4 divisions of the colon?

There are actually more than 6. I believe they would be the cecum, ascending colon, hepatic flexure, transverse colon, colic (or splenic) flexure, descending colon, and sigmoid colon.

Which body cavity contains the appendix?

In order to remove the appendix, the surgeon would have to make an incision and open the abdominal cavity. The appendix is a small projection of mucosal associated lymphatic tissue descending from the inferior of the cecum of the colon. It is found in the Right Lower Quadrant (RLQ), lower right hand side of the abdominal cavity. The body cavity is called the abdominal cavity and its membranous lining is called the peritoneum.

Can you poop out your colon and if so why would this happen?

You cannot possibly void your colon out of your body. It is too high up inside your abdominal cavity and it is held in place quite securely.

At the hepatic flexure the colon becomes the?

Transverse Colon

What is function of transverse colon?

The transverse colon function is to remove water and form feces. The transverse colon is so important to our digestive system it had two arteries to provide its demand of oxygenated blood.
