The geyser called Old Faithful.
Yes. Yellowstone National Park is a recently discovered supervolcanoe. It has erupted before and is supposed to erupt soon.
From 600000 to 640000 years ago.
No one really knows
Scientists do not know exactly when Yellowstone will erupt. Most likely in a few million years or so (estimate).
Moving Magma Under the Earth's crust. Under Yellowstone is a HUGE magma Chamber. So big that if it were to erupt it could be disasterous, causing weather change, snow and cold weather.
It could force the geyser to split, make it erupt more, or get rid of it.
Yes, should the Yellowstone super volcano erupt as it has done so in the past, the evidence is that the whole world would be affected.
The last magmatic eruption of Yellowstone was about 70,000 years ago while the last super eruption was about 640,000 years ago. We have no way of predicting when it will erupt again as, contrary to popular belief, it does not erupt at regular intervals.
No one knows for sure, despite intensive scientific studying and monitoring. The certain thing is that some day, hopefully in the very far future, the magma laying below will erupt on to the surface.
Yellowstone Volcano. Some called it Yellowstone Caldera.
60,000 years
As a large caldera, there is a chance for a future eruption. The fact that hotsprings and geysers exist in the park is an indicator that the original magma pocket that caused historic eruptions (the last being 70,000 years ago) is still under the Yellowstone supervolcano. If Yellowstone was to erupt, the event would be catastrophic. Trust me, I'm a Geologist (student) Steez
