Yes, polar bears are generally very dangerous. When humans maintain a good distance they are not a problem, but coming anywhere near the bear, its den, its food, etc., is hazardous. Polar bears are similar in some ways to the grizzly bear (they even interbreed sometimes), which is also quite dangerous when approached.
A polar bear could be harmed/killed by human hunters (polar bears are currently protected). Or they could be injured, if when starving, awaiting the return of the sea freezing over, they try to attack an injured or young walrus that is part of a group that have hauled out on to the shore.
