Assuming you have no guarantee left, you can buy a controller card (PCMCIA for laptops, in case you have a free slot). A very unlikely scenario is that someone has played a prank on you and disabled the USB ports from the BIOS, in which case they can be re-enabled.
yes
You can buy cheap flash drives in any department store or office store or even a supermarket. Flash drives are available everywhere these days due to the ever increasing technology.
"No. USB ports, or flash drives are not secure in magnetic fields, as they become vulnerable in these types of situations. Thus, they are at a disadvantage."
If it has a USB port, you can use memory sticks/flash drives. I don't know of any laptops that don't have floppy drives, zip drives, CD ROM drives or USB ports.
No but many do have them on the front.
Yes... The only problem is that ps2 fat boys and the slims won't read flash drives unless you use a program to activate the usb ports. Such as Action Replay Max with Media Player.. You can also use a memory card exploit or a homebrew program to turn them on... Its easily done. Just google Free mcboot...

You don't need to install anything in most cases. Just plug-in to any of the available USB ports. Drivers will be installed automatically.
Flash memory storage devices that plug into USB ports are commonly referred to as USB thumb drives. USB thumb drives come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and capacities and are often used for transporting files from one computer to another.
Parallel ports typically have 25 or 36 pin ports. Serial ports, by contrast, have only 9 pins. Both type of ports have two rows of pins.

I've had my Dell Studio 1737 for over a year or two, and just recently when I plug anything( iphone, ipod, mice) in a usb port, it won't recognize the device. When I plug in my ipod, it'll charge but won't recognize it. All of the usb ports are up to date in software and I don't have the money to take it somewhere and get it fixed. So is there a way I can fix this so I wont have to take it to Staples or somewhere? Thanks
