Read "mattew interpreted" by Dr. Daniel Condron, for a better explanation.
If a person was a "good Jew" he/she would be trying to follow the Law of Moses. Jesus explained a better way of doing this. If a person didn't care about the Law of Moses for what ever reason, after listening to Jesus they would either follow Jesus or forget about Him and continue on the way they were going. Jesus' message had a very strong pull and influence upon people. They either believed Him or they didn't. These people are no different from people today.
Jesus being baptized was a way for him to show obedience to God and set an example for others to follow. It was a way for him to fulfill all righteousness, meaning he was doing what was right and fulfilling God's plan for him.
Yes! We believe. Jesus said: "I am the way the truth and the life." But the Important bit is that one needs to follow the way that Jesus has showed.

Jesus, who was sinless, chose to get baptized as a way to show his obedience to God and to set an example for others to follow.
All religions have disciples. A disciple is a follower of what ever religion they desire. Christian disciples follow Jesus Christ's teachings in the Bible. A disciple of Jesus has the responsibility to tell other people about Jesus Christ. In this way people can know what Jesus Christ did for the world and if called by God for salvation can respond to that call. Down through the centuries disciples of Christ have spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and many people now have eternal life. Christians believe that Jesus is "the way, the truth and the life" and that no one comes to the Father (God) except through Jesus ( John 14:6).
Jesus had 12 apostles although many other people followed Jesus around and tried to assist him and are called disciples. All of those that follow our Lord, living and dead, are called disciples. We have no way of knowing this number.
A Gentile was anyone who was not a Jew.

Jesus showed that even though apprehensive about facing suffering, it is right to assign oneself to the will of God, which is the better way.
