Most companies will not delete accounts that have been paid, nor do they have to under the law. The Fair Credit Reporting Act allows them to report the accounts as paid charge offs, or as charge off/collection with a zero balance and to report the date that the account was paid in full or settled.

How can you repair your 510 credit score when you have 2 chargeoffs and 5 accounts in collection?

You need to pay off all the old accounts. Then wait. It takes time to get your credit back on track. Agencies report the last 7 years. People who are willing to give you a loan will see all 7 years, but look the most closely at the last 2. If you could get a secured loan and pay off the old debt, that would help improve your credit faster. You need to work really hard in cleaning up your old debt. Two reasons people don't want to give you a loan when you have old bad debt is, it shows they might not get their money either and it also concerns them that if the old debtors sue you for collection, you may not be able to pay the new loan. Paying on time and patience are the only ways to improve credit. Good luck

What are consumer credit agencies?

Consumer credit agencies, also known as credit reporting agencies or credit bureaus, are organizations that collect and maintain information about individuals' credit histories and financial activities. The primary consumer credit agencies in the United States are Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. The main functions of consumer credit agencies are: Credit Reporting: They gather information about individuals' credit accounts, payment histories, credit inquiries, and other financial data from creditors, lenders, and other sources. This information is compiled into individual credit reports, which provide a detailed record of a person's credit history. Credit Scoring: Based on the information in credit reports, the agencies use proprietary algorithms to generate credit scores, which are numerical representations of an individual's creditworthiness. Credit scores are used by lenders, landlords, employers, and others to assess the risk of extending credit or services to a particular individual. Credit Monitoring and Fraud Prevention: Credit agencies offer services to help consumers monitor their credit reports and detect any signs of identity theft or fraudulent activity. They also provide tools and resources to help consumers understand and improve their credit profiles. Consumer credit agencies are regulated by federal laws, such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), which govern the collection, use, and distribution of credit information. These laws aim to ensure the accuracy, fairness, and privacy of consumer credit data. It's important for individuals to regularly review their credit reports from the three major credit agencies to ensure the information is accurate and to address any errors or discrepancies. Maintaining a good credit history and credit score can have significant implications for a person's ability to obtain loans, credit cards, mortgages, and other financial products and services.

Where can you check to see what is on your credit?

In most of North America the credit reporting agencies must provide you with your Credit history at NC. Not your score, just the info they base your score on.The agencies are different based on country and state or Provence in some cases. To actually get the needed info:Call your bank, ask them the phone numbers for the agencies in your area. Then call them, Answer the questions and they will provide you with your credit history. They can and will ask if you are willing to pay for your score. The three agencies in my area vary from $34 to $90. Billing for your score is 100% legal. But you do not need it!If you do not understand why you can't get a loan based on the info be aware that to much available credit, credit cards and credit lines, is a negative. Ask your bank loan officer to explain why you have a poor credit rating or they have denied your request.
