Loosing your travel documents can be very stressful and inconvenient is an understatement.
I was a flight attendant for 8 years and my travel was mostly international. One thing that we were required to have was our passport and a photo copy of our passport on every trip. If you have a photocopy of your passport you can take it to the embassy and they will take care of you right away.
Now, if you don't have a copy of your passport or any photo ID you are facing a higher mountain to climb. Go to the local embassy and they will have you fill out the proper forms. Be prepared to wait a few days and pay a hefty charge to have your passport expedited.

Overall, courts take the affidavit of documents process very seriously and uphold the highest standards in making sure parties submit all documents required within a case.
