Well groundhogs are aggressive by nature so you'll first want it getting used to you. Personally I'd start by wearing gloves like garden gloves or thicker latex gloves in case yours gets scared and bites or scratches. Start by carefully stroking it or having it watch when you put food in its cage. If it has a favorite treat like mine who loves carrots, then attempt at luring it to where you are with the treat. You must not flinch or be jumpy, remain perfectly calm and still or it won't even consider coming to you. This will take time. It may not happen over a series of weeks but eventually it will come and take it from your hand. The more you practice this the more comfortable it will be eating from your hand. Hope this helps. :)
