There is none. Mine is in the shop now and i have to pay for it.
Yes. According to Federal law, catalytic converters must be maintained for all vehicles on which the converters were originally installed. The catalytic converters burn any fuel that was not completely burned in the combustion cylinder, making the exhaust considerably cleaner. Removing the catalytic converter is a violation of the law, and while your vehicle can operate quite well without the catalytic converter, you do not want to pay that fine.
yes, of course it will. They are the exact same. California wants the converter companies to pay them extra money to the California Air Resources Board, so they can put a stamp on it saying "california approved".
I have a 04 Toyota Matrix that has a bad catalytic converter that I need to get replaced too. I have found that Toyota's warranty on the catalytic converter is 8 years or 80,000 miles, which ever comes first. If your car is under those requirements than you can have a Toyota Dealership repair it for free. Unfortunately my Toyota has over 120,000 miles so I will have to pay for mine out of pocket, which can cost up to $1500. If you call Toyota directly and tell them about your catalytic converter they will document it and if enough people complain, then they will recall it!! 1-800-331-4331 Plus, if you have to pay for the repair now and later on they recall it, you will get reimbursed... So I suggest anyone that has a issue to call Toyota and make sure it is documented!
They may turn you in or they may just demand you pay for a replacement. It is illegal to remove the converter from any vehicle. You had better replace the converter if it is missing before trading in the car. Otherwise you may end up paying a fine of $1,000 and then having to buy a converter for the car you trade in anyway.
The answer is quite simple, a small amount of the white precious metal, platinum is used in the converter. Platinum is roughly valued at $2,000.00 per ounce. There you have it. The components are not that expensive to produce but, you pay for the Platinum.
for a set of 4 new wheels expect to pay around $600. Add $400 for the tires.
One should expect to pay at least $100 for a 3 star hotel in New York City.
The seller has a responsibility that the vehicle will compy with federal law at the time it is being sold. Take it back to them and tell them to add a catalytic converter or take it back for a refund of your purchase price.
