First, you must decide whether the floor is sticky because of residue of cleaning products built up on the surface, or whether the finish itself is damaged by chemicals. If it is truly damaged, there is no repair possible. You must replace the floor.

But if it's just buildup, use a cleaner such as glass cleaner containing alcohol, or a solution of 4 parts water to one part vinegar, and gently scrub the floor clean until all the residue is gone. Do not wet-mop. Ever. Polish as necessary with a clean, dry cloth.

Then in the future, remember to always use cleaners designed for laminate floors. It's also safe to use glass cleaner with alcohol, or vinegar and water solution. Do NOT use any harsh cleansers, oil-based products, wax, or floor finishes. Remember, your laminate is NOT wood - it is plastic.

Lightly mist the cleaner on the floor or on the head of your DAMP sponge mop or swiffer-type mop. Then swipe clean. Never, ever pool cleaner on the floor or wet mop.

Could a sticky substance in the freezer and on the floor of a school be freon?

I'm going to go with "no". Freons aren't particularly "sticky", and they tend to be either easily vaporized liquids or easily liquified gases; I wouldn't expect one to hang around on the floor for any significant length of time.

How thick should your laminate floor be?

There are many variables to what thickness a laminate should be. The absolute minimum is 8mm, although thicker will be stronger to wear and tear. 6 and 7mm laminates are commonly available, but physical defects are more common in these and can often be seen at time of installation.

Is it ok to use water and vinegar on laminate floors?

NO. keep water & moisture away from your floor. Your laminate doesn't need water. There are a lot of new & old Laminate floors out there and many differing claims as to how water resistant they are over time. Either way, the surface of laminate is nothing more nor less that your mothers Formica counter-top, on a fiberboard substrate. A Swiffer is the best thing going for laminate because there is almost no water to make your life complicated. Our other home remedy has been a bottle of Windex sprayed at shoulder level and let it settle sparsly on the floor, then dry mop it up. There is no need nor reason to ever put flowing water or use any mop with enough water to drip on a laminate floor. Its plastic & wipes clean with a moist cloth.

How do you install laminate floors over concrete or linoleum floor tiles?

This process can be done but it is involved and will take some time. First, clean the existing floor. Then lay down and secure a moisture barrier. Then you can install the flooring. However, prior to laying out the floor make sure that you allow the laminate flooring to acclimate to the climate of the house to ensure that it takes well.
