A car battery does not need a capacitor as it's regulating capacity (when in good condition) is well above any capacitor you can fit into your car.
When a stereo system drains too much battery power, it is time to add a capacitor. The capacitor will not increase the battery, but instead will modulate it allowing for additional stereo usage.
It helps relieve the stress on your Battery and Alternator.
The capacitor will not cause dimming, whatever it is that the capacitor is being used for (usually helping drive a bass amp) is what causes the dimming. A capacitor is a quick charge and quick discharge battery basically, so when the amp has depleted the power in the cap it still must go to the car battery for power and that is when there will be dimming lights.
First, the capacitor must be charged. Use a voltmeter, and when it reaches 12 volts, the capacitor is charged. The capacitor should then be installed near the car audio amplifier. Keep the negative wire attached to the battery. Then, a ground wire from the negative post on the capacitor to the car's chassis on the chassis's bare metal ground point. Next, the power wire needs to be disconnected from the amplifier's power input. Connect the wire to the positive post on the capacitor. A new power wire needs to be connected from the capacitor's positive post to the amplifier's power input. Install a 16 gauge wire from the capacitor's remote turn-on post to the amplifier's remote input. Then disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
if you use a uncharged capacitor most likely your car battery will drain much faster using a uncarged capaciter will mess up your amp good power source is needed for your amp to give its maximum potential for deeper bass and no dimming
If you are using it to turn on the car a good battery would help.
you can avoid draining the good battery

if the battery is good and charged sure
yeah ;)
my battery is good but having problems with starting
the capacitor has 2 wires or poles, one is the ground or negative and the other one is the hot or positive... if it is for car audio amp the ground is connected to the chassis and the positive is connected to the battery and to the positive wire of the amp.
