First, figure out which carb you have. Ford used three different carbs on these tractors - why I don't know, but they did. Google "Ford 4000 tractor parts" and you'll find several companies that sell them. Buy the carb rebuild kit that fits the one you have. Also buy a dip-type carb cleaner, some toothbrush-shaped wire brushes, and a gun cleaning kit for a .22 rifle. This will work better if you have an air compressor, but you can do it without one.Once you have all this stuff, remove the carb from your engine and take it apart. Throw away every part of the carb that is in the rebuild kit. Put the other parts in the carb cleaning basket and let them soak overnight. Then use the brushes to scrub all the crud off the carb. Rinse it good, then reassemble it with the new parts.
Yes, and no. Some carburetors will fit more than one make and model. If the carb fits the intake and will connect to the accelerator linkage it will work.
For your 1987 Suzuki Samurai 1.3 to 1.6 8V swap using the stock carb manifold, you can use an aftermarket distributor from a Suzuki Swift GTi or a similar model, which typically fits the 1.6 engine and maintains compatibility with the carb setup. Additionally, a simple modification might involve using a performance ignition coil for improved spark. Make sure to adjust your timing appropriately and consider using an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to optimize performance with the stock carb.
the casting number is located on the drivers side at the very back of the block on the top. it will be right above the bell housing. also on the front of the block in front of the head where the head fits on the block will be a series of numbers that will tell you if the engine had a 2 bbl carb. or a 4 bbl carb. and if the car came with ac. again this is on the drivers side.
