the fertilization
The vascular tissues phloem and xylem transport food and nutrients to different parts of the plant. Xylem mainly transports water through the plant, but it can also transport some nutrients in the water too. Phloem transports organic nutrients (eg. sucrose) to where it is needed in the plant.
The phloem tissue carries food (usually sap) and the xylem carries water.
(you can remember this easily if you connect the F sound in phloem with the F in food)
It is a tissue called xylem
phloem and xylem
They get their food from phloem which carries food from leaves to other plant cells.
by phloem vessel
The xylem tube carries the water from the roots to all parts of the plant, from bottom to top. This works because1 the water evaporates out of the leaves and so the water pressure causes the water to flow upwards.2 if the other parts of the plant have a lower concentration of water in them, the water will flow into them through osmosis. (water flowing from a region of high concentration to a region of lower concentration through a semipermeable membrane like the plant cells.)The phloem carries food from the leaves (and other food producing parts of the plant) to the rest of the plant, from top to bottom.
water, food and waste
there are cells in the phloem that pulls the food upwards
There vascular tissues in the plant whcih carries everything throughout the plant, but the tube that carries food is the Phloem.
rardiovascular tube
Phloem carries food .
Xylem Tissue
phloem and xylem
the fertilization
The phloem carries the food down from the leaves. Not to be confused with xylem, which carries water up to the leaves.
If by "food" you mean the product of photosynthesis, this is transported through the plant (from the leaves and green parts) by the Phloem vessels - this is generally in a downward direction. If by "food" you mean nutrients that are absorbed from the soil, these are absorbed in solution by the roots and then transported in an upward direction throughout the plant by the Xylem vessels
