To retain a valid 10- or 30-hour Maritime Industry card, students are required to complete additional training. The Outreach Training Program is intended as an orientation to Occupational Safety and Health. Workers must receive additional training on specific hazards of their job.

Not a lot of places requires safety training for workers involved in places such as construction, excavations..etc. but a lot of companies are taking them or giving them to their workers to make sure that the workers are efficient and safe in the workplace. In the US, workers subject to OSHA and MSHA are required to be provided with sufficent training to permit them to safely perform their work.
