Yes a weak fuel pump and a partially clogged fuel filter with cause this problem.

An engine will stall when you give it gas if it does not have the correct mixture of fuel and air. This is controlled by the carburetor or throttle body and may need adjustment.
Mostly, inability of it to continue to run. Please give us a bit more info on the circumstances involved.
Does it stall at idle, just after you start up? Does it stall when you give it gas - or take your foot off of the gas? Does it stall at stoplights, stopsigns, etc? Does it stall when the engine is hot or cold or warm? I would love to try and help, but you've gotta give me something to work off of!
The primary causes for most stall is either no spark or no fuel. Check to be sure you have spark and fuel, write back and tell us which your car doesn't have as well as which engine and what year car and I will try to give you a better idea of what may be wrong.

"They" do not cause any engine operation they are only a sensor. If they are faulty they will give a false signal to the main ECU. The engine will still operate safely until they are repaired.
