Check your BRAKE FLUID LEVEL. It has a sensor in it to trigger that light if the level is low.
If it's low, you need to find out why. There a VERY FEW reasons for it to be low, as you will never "LOSE" brake fluid unless there is a leak.
So...........
A: You have a leaky line or hydraulic part (caliper, master cylinder, wheel cylinder)
B: Your pads and or shoes have worn to the point of needing replacement, therefore causing the caliper or wheel cylinders to push further.
If you know how to PROPERLY inspect your brakes, do so, if not, see a Automotive Technician promptly.
