That's right, craters formed when a meteorite hits the moon. You see, the moon doesn't have an atmosphere like earth, which means the meteors won't burn up in the atmosphere. and that means there is no wind to cover up the marks. this doesn't mean Earth doesn't have meteors, many believe a meteor hit the Earth and killed the dinosaurs, they believe the crater for this is the gulf of Mexico.
