I assume it is because the floor of the Afar Depression consists highly of lava, basalt primarily, Erta Ale, one of the world's largest lava lakes steams.
Since steam is water evaporating, water that becomes steam may not be clean. So, when the steam goes thru, some of the dirt may come off along with the steam when the steam becomes water.Creating deposits in the steam vents.
The heater core has failed.
Vents in the volcano are passage ways for the magma, steam, and heat to escape the earth.
Heat and steam coming from the dash and air vents after replacing the water pump means that a hose is hooked up backwards in the new installation. The heater is actually taking on water when it is supposed to only take on hot air.
There are a few different things that can cause steam to come out of the vents in a 1997 Lumina APV. A bad heater core, a broken water hose, and a blown intake gasket can all cause this.
heater core needs replacement
The blower resister is not supposed to be grounded. The smoke may be steam from a leaky heater core.
The heater core is leaking coolant.
If the vents are inside the cab of the truck, this could mean you have blown your heater core.
The steam could be coolant from a bad heater core.
The magma gushes out and then it flows every where. The volcano has vents that let air come out. When the vents open steam/ smoke comes out of those vents.
Nope, that would be steam.
