From a New Zealander's point of view, the war at Gallipoli went wrong because:

1. There was a lack of planning involved (on Churchills part).

2. They landed on the wrong beach because they had bad navigators and inaccurate maps.

3. When they landed, they did not advance quickly enough so the Turks got the high land.
