The factors that led to the decline of Egypt was a civil war that left Egypt weak and poorly defended. It happened near the end of the New Kingdom.
Pharaohs began to become incapable of keeping order in Egypt, and in turn powerful enemies attacked. One such enemy was the Hyksos who attacked with many powerful vehicles known as chariots, drawn by horses. This led to the fall of the Middle Kingdom, which later recovered when Ahmose of Thebes drove them out of Egypt, claiming the throne. They were later attacked again, only improving their defenses, but fell into chaos when the sea peoples attacked. Page 97-100, Holt Social Studies: World History.
