Most dinosaurs, including tyranosaurus rex, died off about 65 million years ago.
Most life on Earth ended 65-66 million years ago during what is called the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event.

There is substantial scientific evidence of an asteroid impact on Earth that caused or was a significant contributor to the extinction.

Some dinosaurs (the theropods) probably are still around - we call them birds

About 66.043 million years ago an asteroid, about 6 miles (10 kilometers) in diameter "slammed" offshore near what is now the Yucatan Penninsula. It created explosions, firestorms, and fiery earthquakes which killed many dinosaurs, even as far as Montana, where we can find iridium from the impact debris today. After the extinction dust settled over the atmosphere, blocking out the sun and killing most plant life. Since most Triceratops roamed where many of the impact's immediate effects were present, most Triceratops probably died before the sunlight was blocked out. However, it is likely a few survived in the far north and the dark weather and lack of food meant that dwindled into extinction, as the dust settled in the first few months of the Paleocene epoch.

It is most likely that a meteorite struck Earth, which caused devastation (earthquakes, tsunamis, wildfires, etc.), and cause plants to shut down for awhile, which, in turn caused dinosaurs and many other forms of life that couldn't go without resources to go extinct, including the T-Rex.

Triceratops died out 65.5 million years ago during the K-T Extinction Event. The K-T Extinction Event wiped out all non-avian dinosaurs, pterosaurs, plesiosaurs, mosasaurs, and 75% of all species in general. It is believed that the event was the result of a 6 mile wide asteroid that smashed into the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, leaving a 100 mile wide crater. So much dust and ash was launched into the atmosphere that sunlight was blocked for months or years. This caused plants to die, and thus the animals that ate them also died, including Triceratops.
