There are several reasons the engine would backfire, but the three main culprits are a dirty air filter, a loose intake manifold bolt or gasket (vacuum leak), or a faulty spark plug. If the problem is not one of these three, check out a book on small engine trouble-shooting and repairs from your local library. You will find other procedures a little more complicated in the manual to help you trouble-shoot.
It is timed incorrectly or plug wires are installed incorrectly.
while driving yur car reduces speed then pulls off with speed and backfires what can cause that
The cyclotron was invented in South Dakota. A cyclotron is a type of a particle accelerator. The Briggs & Stratton internal combustion engine was developed while Stephen Foster Briggs was a student at South Dakota State College (now South Dakota State University).
You need to either adjust your carburetor richer or leaner while at full throttle.
the seat on the exhaust valve is dirty so the valve does not seal it.... not sure how to clean it
you need to hold the inner screw while tightening the outer nut
Slowing down
Backfire is an explosion produced by a running internal combustion engine that occurs in the intake or exhaust system rather than inside the combustion chamber,
sticky valves. marvel mystery oil in the intake thru a vacuum line while engine is running. it will smoke out the exhaust for a minute and the neighbors will be mad but oh well
Take the air filter off and see if it runs without the air filter, if it does your not getting enough air and need to replace your air filter.
A backfire is caused by a misfire... a cylinder fails to ignite the fuel which may cause a stutter, it may also cause a back fire due to it pushing that un-ignited fuel into your manifold where it then ignites from the heat of the other cylinders and boom you have a backfire...
first and best thing to find out is if your running rich or not your fuel to air ratio might not be just right. check your oxygen sensor and do a full tune up.
