A 2003 Jeep Liberty uses red, hoat, five year coolant.
Low coolant, plugged radiator, inoperative fan, stuck thermostat.
Sure will. Thermostat will stick shut not allowing coolant to flow
Either the vehicle is running low on coolant or losing pressure at some end or else the thermostat is functioning improperly or the fan clutch has got weakened. It could be a bad water pump as well.
If the coolant is brown, it has broken down and needs replaced. You could also have a failed thermostat, plugged radiator, inoperative fans,...........
Low coolant? Plugged or restricted radiator? water pump not circulating coolant? Thermostat not opening fully? Defective radiator cap? Hoses collapsing under pressure?
coolant temperature switch turns on the fan, if the fan isn't running the car's overheating...it's a sensor mounted in the coolant line that detects coolant temp.
A bad fan clutch, low on coolant, missing fan shroud, bad thermostat or a plugged up radiator.
Check the radiator hose for weakness or it could possibly be the wrong hose.
If you're stuck in traffic and your water is low, even a little, it will overheat... or your thermostat is not opening all the way. Or your fan is not kicking in at temperature. Make sure your antifreeze is properly mixed, beause it is a coolant, too.

My 1997 Golf does the same thing. I think VWs just tend to have really sensitive sensors?
