i have a 97 Catera and it stalls in either drive or reverse. idles fine for 30 minutes but shuts off almost instantly. replaced CPS and tightened all grounds. No change. but sometimes it will drive beautifully... an answer would be great. next step for me is to fix the valve cover leaks and check all connections and hoses. any help?

The catalytic converter may be clogged. Remove it from the exaust system and take the car for a quick (but noisy) test drive.

it could be the idle speed sensor located on throttle body however i replaced mine and it still idles high. The code indicates lean air/gas mixture so i am still looking for small vacumm leak

hm....try checking your ignition timing (or getting a mechanic to do it) with a timing gun. Also try checking the EGR Valve
