My '99 PSD would wake the dead at idle, in gear under a load it was nice and quiet. People told me 100's of things that were going wrong. Mine was the torque converter; I dropped the trans to change the rear main oil seal and changed the convertor while it was apart (275,000 miles of heavy hauling) it was a little preventative maintenance. It is so nice to drive now - I can sit in traffic and hear myself think. Dave
How do you replace the safety neutral switch on a 1995 Jeep Cherokee 5-speed transmission and Where is the safety neutral switch located?
pre select
The 1928 to 1931 Model A Ford had a 3 speed forward and 1 speed reverse transmission with a neutral position.
The speed of transmission.
On the four speed automatic, it is inside the transmission on the valve body. On the three speed, it is on the front of the transmission case.
A manual trans doesn't have a neutral switch.
Neutral
Check the fluid level in the transmission. Sound like a part may be going out inside the torque converter or transmission itself.
Counter shaft bearing has failed inside the transmission.
you can on most, but it is harder on the transmission than downshifting as speed decreases.
No as there is not a gear in place to transfer the power back when the trans is in neutral
The switch is on the left sie of the transmission just in front of the speed sensor for a manual transmission.
