depends on the color of the smoke. black/gray/brown. probably oil. it is not abnormal for a disco with some miles on it to smoke alittle on start up. the problem is when it is constant after the motor has warmed up. Keep a frequent check on your oil. If you are loosing more than a quart every 3ooo miles then, then do a wet and dry compression test on the engine. Other causes than can cause smoke are: old air filter, fowled spark plugs, old oil, bad gas, some type of substance getting on the exhaust system.(check for leaks), If the smoke is white like steam, then the problem could be a cracked head gasket. I have a 96 with a 130k on it. it smokes alittle on start up, then stops. no oil loss. It is a common problem, but of no real concern. hope it helps. gotta love a rover. duboff
Flat Battery No Fuel
my land rover discovery 2 i want know is fix is hard or easy
Cold start
condensation
when you change the fues and relay switches and the truck dont start what to do next.
You probably have a little oil seeping into the combustion chamber while the engine is off. Once you start the engine, this oil is burned and causes the smoke you see.
is it necessary to have r14 fuse and r6 fuse in the fuse box to start and keep vehicle running
Several things can cause your land rover not to turn over. I would start with checking the battery. Is it fully charged? Do you hear a click when you try to start it. If so, could be a weak battery or a faulty starter solenoid. Those two are the most probable.
White smoke at start up is due to moisture in the exhaust or on a diesel it can be normal due to the engine being cold.White smoke at start up is due to moisture in the exhaust or on a diesel it can be normal due to the engine being cold.
there may be leakage in your coolant water cap at the time of starting vibration causes water to escape from it entering in to the engine causes white smoke
valve seals. Can be replaced with engine in truck & heads do not have to be removed.
the smoke is probly actually blue but appears to be white blue colered smoke is oil burning after vehicle sits oil drips into the cylinders from the valve guide seals causing it to burn and smoke upon start up of vehicle
